Thank You & Comforting Words by Mary Oliver

Homesongblog0234

I stayed up late last night with Andrew reading all your beautiful comments on this post and I want to tell you I appreciated every single word you took the time to write and send my way. Thank you for opening up and responding with kindness to a part of my heart that was not the easiest to share. You were compassionate, and that means a lot.

I’ll leave you today with one of my very favorite poems, one that I read almost daily and have as a little bookmark in my journal. It reminds me that although we’re all broken, we still belong. If you are wanting a bit of inspiration, something to listen to while making Sunday supper or laying around on Saturday morning, check out this podcast interview with Mary Oliver. It’s really special.

“You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about your despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting —
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things” – Mary Oliver

Have a blessed and beautiful weekend, dear ones!

  • Kristi - I love your new blog! Just wanted to give you a heads up. When I read it on my iPhone it’s virtually impossible. The font is so tiny, and by the time I expand it, I need to keep scrolling to the left and right and lose my place. Just not sure you knew. I usually click over from insta but then I just give up bc its like a maze to read. Thought you may want to know! XoxoxReplyCancel
